Terminology Worksheet
1. Pixel- A single point in a raster image, or the smallest addressable screen element in a display device.
2. Megabyte- A unit of computer memory data storage capacity equal to 1,048,576 bytes.
3. Gigabyte- A unit of computer memory data storage capacity equal to 1024 megabytes
4. PPI (Producer, Price, Index)- A family of indexes that measures the average change in selling prices received by domestic producers of goods and services over time. PPIs measure price change from the perspective of the seller.
5. Resolution- The fineness of detail that can be distinguished in an image.
6. RGB (Red, Green, Blue)- Refers to the system for representing the colors used on a computer display.
7. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key)- Scheme for combining primary pigments.
8. JPG (Joint, Photographic, Experts)- File extension also referred to as JPEG.
9. Compression- The process by which data is compressed into a form that minimizes the space required to store or transmit it.
10. PSD Format- Photoshop’s native file format.
11. Aperture- A usually adjustable opening in an optical instrument, such as a camera or telescope, that limits the amount of light passing through a lens or onto a mirror.
12.  Shutter Speed- In photography, it is a common term used to discuss exposure time, the time a cameras shutter takes to open.
13. Composition- Object composition is, combining simpler data types into more complex data types, or function calls into calling function. Function composition is an act or mechanism to combine simple functions to build more complicated ones
14. Flash- Instantaneous illumination for picture taking
15. Due Date- The day an assignment or other form of project is due.  (You better make sure it’s in when it’s due)
